Today Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to a home in Bakersfield because there was two opossums running around on the patio. When I arrived I picked up the two opossums and put them in traps. They were not really babies, they were able to be released into the wild. They are big enough to survive on their own. On Janurary 5, 2010 Jeremy from Animal Capture Wildlife Control appeared on Dirty Jobs on the Discovery channel.  Animal  Capture Wildlife Control was on there to do skunk removal, raccoon removal, opossum removal, and dead animal removal.  The first home on the show we removed a dead skunk from under the home.  The smell was intense and the skunk was covered in maggots.  Then we also trapped a skunk that was removed from the under floor.  It sprayed us many times.  The homes under floor was sealed up and the skunk was released.  The next place we did was an apartment building in West Hollywood.  This place was crawling with animals.  We removed a skunk, raccoon, opossum, and many dead animal carcasses.  We went under the building to do an inspection to see where the animals were going in and out, see if any damage was done, and see if we found any more animals.  We sealed up the building and released the animals.  It was a great expierence working with Mike Rowe.  I get many questions about Mike Rowe, but the number one question “is Mike a nice guy and the same as he is on tv?”  The answer is yes.  He is such a nice guy and down to earth. Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to Monrovia because a family of opossums were nesting on the front porch. The client came out of her house this morning and a family of opossums were there to greet her. She opened the door to find a mother opossum and three babies hanging out behind a planter. She would not come out of her house until I came and removed the opossums. I responded right away and grabbed the mother opossum and the babies scattered. I put the mother in a trap and went to round up the babies. I had to chase the babies all over the front yard. The client was watching through the window laughing so hard. I finally rounded up the all of the baby opossums and put them in with their mother. Wen I put them in the trap they instantly jumped on their moms back. Today I had a client call me out because her dog had cornered an opossum in her backyard behind some trees. She heard the dog barking  and came out to see what was going on and saw an opossum in the bush and ran inside. She was grossed out and scared. I responded to Tarzana right away and removed the opossum for her. She was so happy I came out right away and removed the opossum. Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to a home in Santa Monica because the family was getting many flea bites. The homeowner said they thought they heard opossums in the attic. They were told that opossums carry many fleas and they thought that”s why they were getting flea bites. I came out to to an inspection and as soon as I went into the attic I was covered in fleas. I had to come out and spray raid all over me and return into the attic. I also found many opossum droppings, rat droppings, and signs of opossums living in the attic. The opossums were entering the attic where one roof overlaps the other. This is one of the most common area animals are able to enter that attic. They called me out today because I had the opossum in the trap on the roof. I reset the traps to see if there are more opossums living in the attic. After catching all of the opossums and sealing up the attic, I recommended they call a pest control company to come out and spray for fleas and put rat traps in the attic. Yesterday I was called out to Palos Verdes Estate for an opossum removal.  The client was complaining of an opossum on the attic making all kinds of noise.  They said they had saw it on the roof a few times as well.  They also stated that the opossum had got in a fight with their dog a few times. I came out to do my attic/roof inspection. In my inspection I look for entry points, damage done on roof and in attic, and the animals. I saw the mother opossum in a corner of the attic so I went to get the necessary tools to removed her. This situation is very dangerous when you are dealing with any animal that has babies. I slowly went up to the opossum, which is now growling at me and opening her mouth at me.  I placed the catch all pole gently over the head of the opossum and and put her ina  trap. Two of the babies jumped off of the mother in the process so I had to get them by hand. I took them to a canal close by and released them. When I went to release the opossums, the mother ran out of the trap and there was still a little one in the trap so I had to grab him and chase down the mother opossum and she stopped and opened her mouth at me and I placed the baby on her back with his brothers and they all ran off together. Another successful removal and relocation at Animal Capture Wildlife Control.  For more information on opossums and other wildlife check out our website animalcapturewildlifecontrol.com or contact Jeremy Bailey at (310) 551-0901.

Today I had a client in Beverly Hills call me because they had an opossum running around in their attic.  I went into the attic to do an inspection.  In my inspection I check for entry points, damage done in the attic, and for the animals.  I ran into the  opossum in the attic and physically removed it right then.  I got the opossum in a catch all pole and put the opossumin the trap.  I also found many droppings in the attic.  The insulation was saturated with urine and many droopings everywhere.  I set up more traps in case there were more opossums in the attic.  I recommend three to five days with nothing in the traps after catching the animals, then seal up the access points.  For more information on opossums check out our website animalcapturewildlifecontrol.com or call Jeremy Bailey at (310) 551-0901.

I had a client call Animal Capture Wildlife Control to remove a family of opossums that were living under a dresser in their garage.  In the opossum removal I had to tilt the dresser back and get the mother opossum in a catch all pole and then get her in a trap.  Then I was able to remove the baby opossums by hand.  I do not recommend anyone grabbing opossums by the hand unless you are a trained professional.  After rounding up all the baby opossums, I put them in the trap with their mother.  I then took the opossums to a river close by and let them all up a tree.  Opossums  are a very dangerous animal and not to be messed with.  Many times I receive calls about a dog getting in a fight with an opossum.
