This week Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to a home in Santa Clarita because the homeowner had an opossum in their attic. They had noticed an opossum going up a tree and entering their attic. They said the opossum was nesting above their daughters room and keeping her awake all night. The daughter was afraid to sleep in her room because she thought the opossum would come through the sheet rock.  I responded right away and did an attic inspection. In my inspection I found many opossum droppings all over the attic. I also found the animal was entering the home through an area of the roof where one roof overlapped another. I then set up a couple traps where the opossum was going up a tree that was touching the roof. The next day the opossum was in the trap. I then left the traps or three more days to make sure there were no more opossums in the attic. I sealed up the roof where the opossum was entering the attic and job is complete. This weekend Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to West Los Angeles for a dead animal removal from an apartment building. The owner had stated the tenants were complaining about a terribal odor. The owner had a plumber come out to check on the plumbing to make sure there was not a plumbing leak. The plumber ended up coming out and trowing up because there was a dead opossum under the apartment. The owner called Animal Capture Wildlife Control out to remove the dead animal. When I responded I was walking around the outside of the apartment to see where the animals were entering the structure and found there were two foundation ents that were off. I also noticed a ton of flies at this one foundation vent and it also had a terribal odor coming out of it. I went uncer the apartment to find a huge dead opossum. The opossum was covered in fleas, maggots and flies. The odor was serious. I removed the animal a poured some pinesol over the dirt where the animal was. The tenants were happy they could finally get some sleep again. Today Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to a home in Los Angeles to remove an opossum in the dryer vent. The homeowner stated she thought the dryer vent was clogged so she had her son come to her home and check on it. When he started to move the dryer vent he heard an animal in the vent. He then called me to come out and I responded right away. I first looked in the vent to see if I saw anything and I did not. I then went inside the home and told the lady I did not hear anything, but I would remove the vent for her for peace of mind and if there had been an animal living in there, you would not want to use it anymore because the animal probably was urinating in there. Also the animal probably brought leaves and other things to nest in there. I then pulled off the vent from the dryer end and clamped it at that end. I then went outside and looked in the vent again and saw the opossum in the vent looking back at me. That is the pic that is in the post. I then cut the other end from the wall and clamped it. I then carried the dryer duct outside and cut it open and put the opossum in the trap. The homeowner was very pleased that the animal was removed and she could sleep again. Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to Monrovia because a family of opossums were nesting on the front porch. The client came out of her house this morning and a family of opossums were there to greet her. She opened the door to find a mother opossum and three babies hanging out behind a planter. She would not come out of her house until I came and removed the opossums. I responded right away and grabbed the mother opossum and the babies scattered. I put the mother in a trap and went to round up the babies. I had to chase the babies all over the front yard. The client was watching through the window laughing so hard. Today I had a client call me out because her dog had cornered an opossum in her backyard behind some trees. She heard the dog barking  and came out to see what was going on and saw an opossum in the bush and ran inside. She was grossed out and scared.
