The “Skunkanator” was called out to the Culver City area of Los Angeles for a skunk Removal. The skunks were getting in under the house and tearing up the insulation and stinking the house up really bad. The home owners daughter was sent home from school because she smelt like skunk. I set up five traps and the next day the traps were full of skunks. Today Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to a residence in the Granada Hills area of Los Angeles. I had been trapping at this residence for a week now because the dog was attacked by a raccoon. Today they called me and told me I had three skunks in one trap. It is not uncommon to trap two animal in a trap at the same time, but three is pretty rare. These animal get trapped in the same trap together because they eat so close together. In this case it was a mother skunk and two of her babies. The skunks were taken to a nice place with plenty of water and food to grow up together and released. On Janurary 5, 2010 Jeremy from Animal Capture Wildlife Control appeared on Dirty Jobs on the Discovery channel.  Animal  Capture Wildlife Control was on there to do skunk removal, raccoon removal, opossum removal, and dead animal removal.  The first home on the show we removed a dead skunk from under the home.  The smell was intense and the skunk was covered in maggots.  Then we also trapped a skunk that was removed from the under floor.  It sprayed us many times.  The homes under floor was sealed up and the skunk was released.  The next place we did was an apartment building in West Hollywood.  This place was crawling with animals.  We removed a skunk, raccoon, opossum, and many dead animal carcasses.  We went under the building to do an inspection to see where the animals were going in and out, see if any damage was done, and see if we found any more animals.  We sealed up the building and released the animals.  It was a great expierence working with Mike Rowe.  I get many questions about Mike Rowe, but the number one question “is Mike a nice guy and the same as he is on tv?”  The answer is yes.  He is such a nice guy and down to earth. This week Animal Capture Wildlife Controlwas called out to Bel Air because a skunk was coming under the homeowners fence and fighting and spraying the dog. I set up two traps by the holes in the fence and caught the skunk the first night. I rest more traps in case there were more skunks coming in the yard. The raccoon also had a latrine on the roof. Today the homeowner called me and told me we trapped the raccoon. I came out right away to remove the raccoon. I cam out and did a property inspection as well as went under the deck and did an inspection. I wanted to make sure there were no vents off under the deck going under the house. This weekend Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to Long Beach for a raccoon removal. When I arrived the homeowner stated they had been hearing the raccoons in the wall. Sure enough, there was a family of raccoons in the attic/wall. I set up a trap for the mother raccoon and trapped her right away. I then came out to remove the babies from the attic. The homeowner said they do not have a crawlspace, so I had to tear into the attic. I climbed through a twofoot by three foot square where I tore the wood vent off and went in head first. I then climbed all the way in to find they were in a drop down area and I had no access to reach the baby raccoons. I then told the homeowner I would have to cut a hole in the sheet rock. I was hearing one raccoon in the wall making a lot of noise next to what used to be a electrical switch. I opened the cover and there was a baby raccoon right there. I got a hold of his back legs and pulled one through at a time. It was a really really tight squeeze. It was like the wall was giving birth. I then had to turn his body and pull him out to his shoulders and pull one leg out at a time. Then I had to twist the body and pull his head through. I did NOT want to hurt the animal, I would have cut a hole if I felt the animal would not make it through the hole. The animal slipped out of the hole and immediately started growling and yelling. He was probably happy to be out of the wall. Then I went to cut the hole in the sheet rock to remove the rest of the babies. I cut the hole in the sheet rock to find four more babies in the nest. I just reached in and grabbed them and put them in a trap. The homeowner thought this whole process was crazy! She also thought I was crazy how I just grabbed the baby raccoons and removed them from the wall. In all I removed the mother raccoon and five babies. I then released the mother raccoon and babies into the wild.
