This week Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to a house in Los Angeles because the homeowner stated she had a snake inside her pantry. I told her to put a towel under the door so the snake could not get out. I responded right away and when I arrived I found a four and a half foot gopher snake in the pantry. The gopher snake was striking and hissing at me. Just because the snake is not venomous does NOT mean the snake won’t bite you! Snakes can still break the skin when they bite. Also some snakes still carry salmonella. I removed the snake and relocated it to the mountains. She said the snake came in she thought because she had her door open all day. This week Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to a home in Pacific Palisades because of a skunk odor under the home. When I arrived at the home the homeowner stated he thought it was a live skunk under the home, but I did not find an opening for a skunk to get under the home. He then told me he sealed it up about two or three weeks ago and I told him there was probably a dead skunk under the home. Then when I pulled the cover off to go under the home, there was a bunch of flies that came flying out. I went under a sure enough I found a dead skunk. The dead skunk was removed and the job was complete. This week Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to a home in Bakersfield because they had skunks living under a shed and their dog was sprayed by a skunk. I came out and did an inspection of the property and set up three traps. I trapped nine skunks in four days. The client said that was enough for now because they thought now they might be trapping the neighborhood skunks. The client was amazed there was that many skunks around their home. This week Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to a home in Bakersfield because the homeowner was hearing a raccoon in the attic. I came out to do an attic inspection and found the raccoon had torn up the air duct system. The homeowner was wasting a lot of energy cooling down the attic. They also said they were wondering why the house was not cooling down. I found that the raccoon had a latrine on the roof as well. The raccoon had also torn off a vent to access the attic. I set up three traps around the home where the trees were touching the roof because anytime people have trees and shrubs touching the roof it is a ladder for animals to access the roof and potentially get in the attic. This week Animal Capture Wildlife Control was called out to a home in Santa Clarita because the homeowner had an opossum in their attic. They had noticed an opossum going up a tree and entering their attic. They said the opossum was nesting above their daughters room and keeping her awake all night. The daughter was afraid to sleep in her room because she thought the opossum would come through the sheet rock.  I responded right away and did an attic inspection. In my inspection I found many opossum droppings all over the attic. I also found the animal was entering the home through an area of the roof where one roof overlapped another. I then set up a couple traps where the opossum was going up a tree that was touching the roof. The next day the opossum was in the trap. I then left the traps or three more days to make sure there were no more opossums in the attic. I sealed up the roof where the opossum was entering the attic and job is complete.
