This week I had a client Animal Capture Wildlife Control out to Rancho Palos Verdes for a dead animal removal. The client stated they smelled a dead animal in the heating duct unit at the vent and opened the vent and there was a dead rat lying right there. They removed the dead rat themselves and still smelled a dead animal smell so they asked me to come out and do an under floor inspection. When I arrived I went under the home to inspect and found a huge rat problem. Not only was there a rat problem, but there was a major heating unit problem. The air duct system was a disaster. There was air ducts disconnected everywhere. The rats would enter in the air ducts atthe points they were open and run through the system defecating and urinating though out the system. They also would get lost and stuck in there and die. I ended up finding a huge rats nest on top of the heating unit. There was many rat droppings, bird feathers, fruit cores, and snail shells the rats had been eating. I then found a dead cat that had been under there for a very long time. I also found a dead rat under the home that was smelling and covered in maggots. The crazy thing is the client had just bought the home and has only lived there two weeks. The home should have never passed the pest inspection. Also, the inspection should have noticed the heating unit was a disaster. Guess you never know what your really getting!
